About Our Program

Kids Making Art – art classes for kids ages 24 months to 5 years.

Our classes are designed to expose young children to the  elements and principals of art including color and shape identification, spatial relationships, proper handling of art materials, cutting, presentation, learning to talk about art, and much more.

Adult participation is a key element of our classes – you and your child will learn, create art and have fun together!

Each month will focus on a theme, book, artist, author or art movement. Classes will include circle & story time, fun projects, and talking about our artwork at the end of each class.

Children learn by doing, especially when guided by a trusted adult.  The exploration of art can begin at an early age.  Join us as we make art together and grow a lifelong love of art in your children.

Kids Making Art was co-created by Melinda Laz and Meaghan Walsh Schneider, both Denver artists and moms to art-loving toddlers.

Melinda is also a seasoned arts administrator. She holds a BFA in printmaking from Washington University in St. Louis, and an MA in Arts Administration from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She exhibits her work in exhibitions in Denver and across the United States.  View her work at www.melindalaz.com.

Guest Instructor Meaghan Walsh Schneider is a 10-year veteran teacher with Cherry Creek School district, and a mixed media artist showing her work in Denver area shops.
